Hygiene Behaviour Change Coalition (HBCC) in COVID-19

Wednesday 5 August 2020

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Pakistan, Save the Children Pakistan program is implementing Hygiene and Behavior Change Coalition (HBCC) project. The key intended impact of SCI and Unilever’s collaborative project (HBCC) is to contain the spread of COVID-19 in nine districts of Pakistan (Punjab – Toba Tek Sing, Khanewal and Lahore, Sindh – Karachi, Dadu, Larkana, Shikarpur and Jacobabad, Islamabad).

In order to contribute to our impact, children and their communities need to adopt improved hygiene practices and change behavior to reflect recommended COVD-19 prevention and control measures. For the cause, children and communities will be sensitized through behavior change communication approach as well as through provision of WASH facilities (handwashing stations and functional toilets) in schools and slum areas across nine districts.
The project aims to address program preparedness and response through activities in Health such as Infection Prevention and Control, Risk communication and community engagement and Social Behavior Change Communication to improve awareness with regards to prioritization. Through project activities, SC Pakistan aims to develop a comprehensive social and behavior change communication campaign that fills these gaps with a child-focused lens.
